Draws are held twice a week – on Wednesday and Saturday evenings – and these are broadcast live from the National Lottery HQ, which is essentially a dedicated television studio. UK National Lottery tickets can be entered for a single draw or for up to eight consecutive draws in advance. If consecutive National Lottery entries are selected then the same Lotto numbers will be entered for each of the draws and payment must be made in advance.
The odds of winning a UK National Lottery jackpot (by matching the six main numbers drawn) are 1 in 13,983,816, but there are four other prize levels for players who match fewer than the six main numbers, and this makes the overall odds of winning any UK National Lottery prize around 1 in 54. Of course, as with any other national lottery game, UK National Lottery players can increase their chances of winning a prize – including the jackpot itself – by purchasing more lottery tickets.
